In 1937 the plant Margineanca (presently S.C. Uzina Mecanica Plopeni
S.A ) was founded after the signing of a contract between the
Romanian Government and RIMMA. Tha plant now called The Atonomous
Public Administration of Margineanca Plant, belonging to Ministery
of Defence was founded according to the stipulations of Royal Decree
no. 419/12.02.1940 and it started to produce ammunition in 1941.
At 24th of July 1947, according to Law no. 268, the plant became an
anonymous society within The State-owned Metallurgical Industrial
Units Department.
During 1960-1970 the industrial production increased significantly
in quantity and quality. New products requested on the internal and
on the external market were being produced here.
During 1970-1980 new investments were done and a large number of
civilian and millitary products were produced here. After 1980, all
sustained approaches in research and investments allowed the
development of a powerful and complex profile of millitary
technique, as well as a diverse profile of civilian products having
a high level of complexity and technique, as well as for the
external and for the internal market.
Up to 1990, the plant was called The Mechanical Factory Plopeni
within M.I.C.M.U.E.E.- C.I.E.S.
In 1991 C.I.E.S. becomes an autonomous firm as R.A.T.MIL. Bucuresti,
The Mechanical Factory Plopeni becomes its subsidiary.
Starting from 1992, the plant undergoes a recession period
determined by the undergoing decrease of contracts and orders.
According to Governement Decision no.705/15.10.1998 R.A.T.MIL.
Bucuresti becomes The National Society ROMARM S.A.-Bucuresti, and
The Mechanical Plant Plopeni obtaining juridical authonomy becomes
S.C. Plopeni S.A. the subsidiary of S.N. ROMARM. S.A.
In October 2000 according to Government Decision no. 979/2000, S.N.
ROMARM S.A. merges with R.A. The Army’s Arsenal and they become The
National Company . ROMARM S.A. and The Mechanical Plant Plopeni
becomes its subsidiary.
According to Governement Decision no. 952/2001, the factory is
subordinated to The National Company C.N. ROMARM S.A., as The
Mechanical Plant Plopeni
